Drama, and confidence....through pose and lighting...no props

Quintin Lake – Portraits

Quintin is a multi-award winning Architectural & Fine Art Photographer and author….so it’s always nice when a brilliant photographer who implicitly understands the “art” of photography approaches you to update their formal portraits (and a mix for use on different social media too).  Some of his incredible work is here: http://blog.quintinlake.com/2013/03/25/western-desert-journey-egypt/

I am really confident with my current portraiture; simple but moody and dynamic…. and each shoot teaches me more about concept, composition, and importantly interaction.

As well as his architectural images, Quintin travels widely (as you will see from the blog post above) and so adding adventure through minimal props and simple techniques is what I think starts to define compelling portraiture.  This shoot required a quietly confident yet dramatic look – the fact that the t-shirt almost matched the colour of the backdrop was an important factor to achieve the look and feel.
