Circus Kathmandu
I really am terribly lucky to be a trustee of Freedom Matters – a charity that rescues children from Trafficking in Nepal (www.freedommatters.org.uk) The headquarters is based in Dubai, and last week we headed out there because a number of the children that have been rescued from slavery have formed a circus where they can hopefully rebuild their lives and provide for themselves in the future.
They are a really super group of guys and girls – very talented and full of fun, considering what they have been through. The performance was the very first time they had been properly abroad, and must have been a wonderful eye-opener.
For me, the photography was also great fun, but a very challenging shoot. All of the images are at 8000 ISO or above (this is becoming a habit for me!) and without flash hard to freeze the subject.
The Nikon D3s and D4 that I use are simply brilliant at dealing with low-light at high ISO, and I have now included high ISO, low-light work in all of my courses. Anti-noise software has also become so much better since those early days of “Noise-Ninja”. However, all of these images have been processed only in Lightroom. Love it!
