One-2-One Training – Tom
Another weekend course just completed, and really great fun. Tom is already a very accomplished photographer with years of experience, but just wanted to hone his lighting and off-camera flash skills.

I designed a course to achieve that aim (also designed the course to fit in the England rugby game, so all was well!) and hopefully Tom will now have that essential tool in his toolbox.
After the first day of confirmation and techniques, we used Louisa again to provide the “lighting target” and despite the weather, we did find a slot to get into the hill behind the house. Tom was quite fast too – picking up the ambient exposure techniques quickly, and then exposing with speed light for the model.

It was VERY windy, but she held up well and gave the opportunity to get a couple of keepers before the rain started. Then it was into the studio to put into practice all the lighting and “shadow” techniques we had practiced.

I also had the chance to use my new smoke machine. More practice on that needed, but great fun, and some good results in the last 5 minutes of the shoot!
