Historic Motorsport International

The HMI is a new show that sits alongside the Classic Car Show at the ExCel Centre in London.  The International Guild of Specialist Engineers is one of the main organisers of the event and they asked me to come along on the opening day to capture some of the event.  It was a series of talks and displays and, boy, some incredible and historic cars.  In fact opening the event was one of the most successful racing drivers ever – Jackie Ickx who won Le Mans 6 times, had eight wins and 25 podium finishes in Formula One, won the Can-Am Championship in 1979 and won the Dakar Rally.

Photography is always made easier when you find yourself in front of something beautiful – however, the inside lighting and the space at ExCel makes life trickier.  It was great to have a couple of hours to wander about before the main public were allowed in, but also to chat with some of the enthusiasts and former drivers.
