The first of my project to bring some Gurkhas to take portraits of well-known people. Vishal Gurung was the first brave soul to step into the ring, and he was good! I wont post his own images here; they will be placed alongside my images once the project is complete.
The end result should be 12 personalities photographed by the soldier, and then I will photograph them alongside the subject. So at Joanna’s house we chose 3 set-ups and used a little fill-in flash if necessary.
Joanna is just lovely to be around, so a joy to photograph. Her house, with all the things she has collected over the years, really is a photographer’s heaven – there are props everywhere, and
Once the interior shoots were complete, we moved outside to her delightful garden to use the dappled light and wonderful plants, and the cherry blossom in full swing added some lovely light and colour to the backgrounds.
On this shoot I used only my 85mm on the D4 to really get to grips with it…….how did I manage without it! Vishal employed a little more variety in his lens choices. I am looking forward to showing you his images, and the final project…..Next stop is the House of Lords, then the Royal Hospital at Chelsea….
