Portraits – 3 shoots in one day

The life of a freelancer who does corporate stuff, commercial stuff, adventure and exploring stuff, teaching, portraits is sometimes incredibly busy, and sometimes quieter.  Last Thursday I had a request for some teaching in the morning, then a portrait through my castings page, and then portraits for two people I met at the British Exploring expedition to the Arctic in the summer.

The first portrait was Vivian – a really super chap – 74 years old and an ex-soldier with the 10th Royal Hussars.  He has been suffering with Parkinsons’ for the last 9 years, and I guess for people in his situation, a portrait shoot is not usual.  However, he took the leap, and I think we have some really nice images for him.

Later in the day, I photographed Harry (who was one of the two Doctors in the Arctic) and Laura who had been a Trainee Explorer on the same expedition.  It was lovely to see them – Harry wanted some different, doctor images…so we dressed him in a 1950s suit with a pocket watch and a collar-less shirt – I think it works very well; because Harry is a young bloke with some modern “ways”!

Laura was a more usual shoot – a very pretty girl with strong ginger hair.  The head-and-shoulder look worked well in this circumstance.
