One-2-One Training studio and photoshop

Just finished another of my 2 day 1-2-1 courses; this time with Sophie.  Sophie is a natural artist (although she may argue the point), with a great eye, so I didn’t have to concentrate much on the compositional skills.  However, she had never photographed in a studio with a model before – where the rules of composition are just as important; even when using a “clean” background.  She was shooting with a 50mm f1.4, I was shooting 85mm f1.4.

Her images were strong (difficult to think about final image strength as a novice to a studio) and she quickly grasped the requirements of light and shadow, and colour and shape.

After that, we took the RAW images and processed them using firstly Lightroom, then Photoshop.  Sophie was keen to grasp some basics in Photoshop, but had not considered Lightroom.  Having seen what Lightroom 4 (soon to be improved as Lightroom 5) can do, I think she is now far more confident to use the fantastic tools that these programmes offer.  Here are a couple of her images from the shoot:
