One-2-One Training – Intermediate Cse

The next instalment of my training courses saw Victoria return for the Intermediate course – a two day course building on the basic course to improve understanding of cameras (and all the settings that are not day-to-day use).  We did some slow shutter work, (including rear curtain sync),

and even going out into some very grey and wet weather to practice panning techniques to make very slow cars look like they are going quite quickly!

We also spent some time in the studio with Joanna, our new but excellent model to get multi light set-ups right and experiment with larger apertures to get the focus spot on for the eyes and face, while allowing some focus fall-off as it moves away from the eyes.  Also, some arty shots that Victoria was keen to try out.

Finally we headed out to Stourhead to photograph some of their beautiful scenery and flowers at this time of year.  At one stage, we were the only people there, because of the weather – but that made it more enjoyable.

Victoria is a seriously good photographer, and she is working up to a formal qualification; which she should breeze through.  I have seen some of the images she took recently up in the Lake District too – just beautiful!
