One-2-One Training – Bill

This is second two day course Bill has done with me, and we have another one to go!  Bill has been taking photographs for many years (“I have a year’s experience, 50 times” is how he describes his ability!), and he lives in Houston Texas – so I am very honoured to have his business here in Mere!

He shoots with Nikon (D750) and has a very defined requirement.  But he is good; he can see the composition quickly, so getting technical aspects of lighting the subject was his main aim, and we also spent some time on Lightroom and Photoshop.

The last time he was here, the weather wasn’t great, so it was lovely to head to Stonehenge (a 4:45am start!) and get the sun rising directly behind the stones which had a lovely little slog of fog around them.  We tried a few different techniques, and got some pretty cool images.

The other thing we did away from the studio was a little project.  We are very lucky to have some Aston Martin repair specialists in Mere, and so I asked one of the guys – lovely chap called John who has his own business making specialist panels and parts, mainly for Astons – if we could visit his workshop for the afternoon and try to capture a little of the “story” of his working day.  He very kindly agreed and it was a great opportunity for Bill to test new-found lighting skills in a testing multi-lit environment.  Some great results though!
