Help 4 Heroes, Tedworth House

The nice thing about photography (and it’s occasionally a tough old business to be in) is that you get to meet great people.  In the summer I ran a course in Poland, and one of those who signed up to it was Mark Dawson; an ex-military guy who has taken the plunge of setting about a career in photography.  His work is good, too.

About a month ago, he asked if I could take on one of his jobs as he was out of the country.  This was to photograph an event for Help 4 Heroes…. so of course I said yes.  It’s also pretty close to me, and Mark lives in the North.

Help 4 Heroes does a huge amount of work for those who need some help following trauma or injury during or after their military service, and Bryn and Emma Parry set up this amazing charity just 8 years ago.  The amount of people it has helped has been incredible – so it was a real honour for me to go and be part of their event.  On that note, the event was an annual awards ceremony where they give medals and a certificate to those people who have done amazing things to raise money for the charity – lots of many as it turns out.  The lovely thing is that they are given their certificates by those who the money helps – those with significant injuries who are benefitting from what H4H does (Ambassadors).  Amazing evening – heart-warming!

So… a small event for me; simple set-up… but great fun!
