The Victory Services Club, London
I have been working with the Victory Services Club for the past couple of years; they are a terrific client – the sort you really want to work for because they understand what you need as a photographer through the day (including great lunches!)
The VSC has had a huge amount of work done in recent times to improve facilities and boy, has it worked – a real joy to be there experiencing the upgrades at first hand.
Of course, if you are upgrading facilities, you need to get the message out. For this, they are renewing the website and in order to this, they have to have the right images to support it. For example; they are having new dining rooms and a fantastic state of the art kitchen designed in part by their irrepressible chefs – a brilliant and vibrant bunch who add such value to an already outstanding management and support team (if you think I am going over the top on this, go and visit if you have the chance!)So, the shoot. A very busy day beginning with staff portraits – with and without green screen. We then moved onto rooms – each of the room types (including public rooms and bedrooms) needed to be photographed from different perspectives to complement the work that has been done. It takes quite some organisation and fast moving on a normal day when the club is full of guests, but we managed it.
The final part was to photograph some of the amazing food that will form part of the new menus. I really enjoy food photography – getting the lighting and shadows bang on is tricky, but very satisfying.
