Chelsea Flower Show

It is one of those odd things.  I haven’t been to the Royal Hospital at Chelsea before, then I go there three times in a month.  Last week was the Chelsea Flower Show; really really enjoyable day.  But I didn’t take my big old Nikons – I didn’t go there to photograph (although I did take my wonderful little Fujifilm X100.  What was interesting was watching some of the other photographers that were there.  Lots of people take a LOT of gear!  I would have thought that a couple of lenses and of course a tripod would have done the job, but some people were lugging around an awful lot of equipment!

We managed to stay slightly later than most people and it was then lovely to walk around the flower displays inside the tents without the crowds.  I took just a couple of images, using the macro setting on the X100, manually focussing hand-held (tricky!) just to photograph some of the roses.20130521-Chelsea-Flower-Show-023Came out OK, I think…

This week, I am back to photograph some of the military in-pensioners; really looking forward to photographing in one of the most beautiful settings in London.  And then in the middle of June, I am photographing for Flannels4Heroes on the cricket pitch at the Hospital.  Odd how these things come around…
