Another Wedding?

I think I said a while back that I wasn’t going to get into weddings, but perhaps take two a year.  It was interesting then that my first photographic role on 2014 was to photograph a wedding.  And this was just a corker of a wedding – a suitably large affair in one of the most fantastic locations in England.  I can’t say too much about it or those involved, other than as a photographer there was a lot to do.  Most of the locations (there were 4 major interiors) held paintings that allowed no flash.  Bear in mind this was the first week in January and the wedding was late-afternoon and evening….with no assisted light.

Fortunately I had my Nikon D4 as prime body with f2.8 or wider lenses and I started the shoot in the church at f2.8 and 5000 ISO!  There were days (not very long ago) when heading north of 800 ISO was a recipe for unusable colour images – this D4 sensor, however is a life-saver!  I ended the shoot photographing the speeches at f2.8 (200mm) and 8000 ISO.

I developed the images in colour….. on Lightroom 4, using Lightroom’s own noise reduction programme.  Just brilliant!  Slightly softer images, but with a little clarity boost – perfectly good!

On top of that, this was the first wedding I have attended as a photographer….in Morning Dress!
