Another Wedding?- That’s my Two for the Year!

Avoiding requests for weddings as a photographer “who doesn’t do weddings” is a little bit of a social minefield, so I committed to undertake two weddings each year, if they looked like they would be fun, and my type of event (it’s nice to be picky!)

The first was in King’s College Cambridge, and this one was equally lovely.  James and Sarah approached me about 6 months ago and I agreed to cover their day.  It was a semi-military affair and at All-Saints in Putney with a terrific reception at the Thames Rowing Club.  A smart wedding indeed….on a very flat weather day!

Because it was going to be a little tricky parking at each location, and getting around to beat the Bride and Groom to their locations, I decided being on foot would be easier, so I headed off by train in the morning, and managed to get the last train out at night.  This is again a good practice – carrying all you need on your back and not relying on carrying all your non-essentials in a vehicle.

This is also one of the few shoots were I had a second shooter along – Thanks Jon Evans for concentrating on getting the ceiling in the pictures!

The vicar was also very amenable, but as in most of these day-time events in darkish churches on a dull day, it is lovely not to have to rely on flash – so my 85mm f1.4 and 70-200 f2.8 were the main lenses of the day.

The church was designed by William Morris, and it is the most extensive glazing in stained glass in any London church.  Beautiful ceiling!
